Note: This is a big specimen of rare Spanish Sphalerite Rough on matrix. A great cabinent size specimen or cutting rough. There are several clean yellow areas in this specimen that will facet extremely brilliant gems. Cut stones from this material are very brilliant as Sphalerite has greater dispersive properties than even Diamond.

Sphalerite has extremely high dispersion, more so than diamond. One of the few known gems that compares to the luster of diamond. Rarely found facet grade with Santander Spain, the area known for most of the worlds finest Sphalerite gems. Unfortunately, little to no mining occurs any more, as the mines have flooded and caved in.
