Note: Hydrossular Garnets are mostly translucent or opaque, One rare subspecies can be transparent and is sometimes referred to as Gooseberry Garnet. Found mainly in Kenya in association with Idocrase-Vesuvianite. This variety of Garnet can inter-grow with Idocrase, and the two can be nearly impossible to distinguish from each other using standard lab tests.
